How much does the service cost?
The Jobs Service is subscription based. With a subscription, an organization may post any number of job announcements during the subscription period. Subscriptions are priced as
follows:
- Three months for $50.00
- Six months for $80.00
- One year for $150.00
What is NPO.net?
NPO.net is an online information resource for the Chicago area nonprofit
community. NPO.net was founded in 1995 by several foundations and nonprofits and is
now maintained by the Lumity.
How are the job categories defined?
The job categories are broadly defined as follows:
- Program Services
Includes staff who provide actual service delivery across the nonprofit spectrum. Positions are very diverse, and range from social workers and youth workers to performers in arts organizations to museum curators to researchers or lawyers in advocacy organizations.
- Fundraising and Marketing
Includes fund raising professionals from junior to senior levels, both generalists and specialists. Also includes staff writers, membership directors, communications staff and others concerned with outreach on behalf of nonprofit organizations.
- Management
Includes executive directors, finance and business managers, senior staff in MIS, operations, and human resources.
- Support
Includes office managers and administrators, secretaries, reception staff, data entry, and other clerical positions.
- Volunteer Management
Includes supervision, recruitment and training in volunteer programs and special events.
- Grantmaking
Includes foundation program officers and corporate community relations staff
- Employment-Related Agency
Some nonprofit organizations perform services similar to employment agencies. Many of the jobs in this section are at for-profit entities.
How do I post an announcement under multiple categories?
You must post the job one time for each category. Our statistical analysis of job seeker use of the site
shows that job seekers tend to choose the 'All' option for category.
Can I change my Employer ID (formerly Account ID)?
No, the Employer ID is assigned by the NPO.net Jobs Service system.
I have my correct login information, why do I keep getting an 'Incorrect Login' message?
Your login information consists of your Employer (account) ID, Username, and Password. Most Employer ID's begin with a letter (though not all).
If your Employer ID appears to begin with a ZERO or ONE, try entering it with the letter 'O' or 'I'. If you still unable to login, please contact us at (312) 372-4872.
I know my organization has an account, but a former staff member maintained it. I don't have have his/her login information, how do I access the account?
If you want to post a new announcement, the easiest solution is to sign up for a new account. We try cross-reference new account requests with current accounts to keep your organization's information together.

When viewing my job list, there is an item labeled Hits, what is it?
Jobs seekers view a list of jobs by date and category when performing their searches. If a job seeker opts to view
the full listing of a job announcement, a 'Hit' is recorded. Thus, the 'Hits' item displays the number of times your
listing has been seen in its entirety.
